A mileage log is a record of all the journeys you have made in a company car.
For each journey, you should note down the date, the starting and ending odometer readings, the starting and ending addresses, and the purpose of the journey (business or private).
You must keep a logbook if you wish to prove that you drive a company car for private purposes for less than 500 kilometres a year. A comprehensive logbook is also required if you wish to claim business mileage on your private car. Without proper records, you run the risk of being subject to additional tax liability or adjustments by the tax authorities.
