When people think of a tyre change, they think of Profile Tyrecenter. For many people, it’s a biannual event, but for lorries it’s a completely different story. Tyre pressure and tread depth are matters of great importance on the road. Peter de Bruin of Profile Tyrecenter Nooteboom is operationally responsible for five lorry branches, all operating under the Nooteboom banner.
Peter has been working at Profile Tyrecenter Nooteboom for almost 15 years. He started out as a truck tyre fitter and can now be found at five different branches.
The family business started with two locations but now operates in Gouda, Zoetermeer, Leiden, and, since April 2021, also in Vianen and Utrecht. Yet few truck tyres are actually changed at the branches. “We change 80 per cent of the tyres at the customer’s premises,” says Peter.
Use of the GPS tracker
Profile came into contact with TrackJack via Tyrenet Nooteboom, a wholesaler of car accessories. That was in 2019. “They’d had good experiences with it, and for us it was ideal for keeping track of the fleet. If a customer calls to ask when we’ll be there, we can see that straight away. That’s service.” Peter himself mainly uses the smartphone app to view the ten journey recording systems now on the map. “But I don’t do that actively, only when customers ask for it. I never use it for monitoring,” says Peter.

Profile also offers Profile Roadside Assistance for business customers through the franchisor. If a lorry with a flat tyre is stranded on the motorway, the system checks which branch is closest. Peter explains: “The mechanic on night duty then heads there. Rijkswaterstaat can then call us to find out when we’ll be on site. I can see that straight away via the TrackJack app.”
The accounts department also uses the GPS trackers for journey logging. This data is easily exported and processed efficiently.
Proactive working and service are our top priorities
What makes Profile Tyrecenter Nooteboom special is their way of working. “We work proactively with our customers. We don’t wait around; we prefer to always go to the customer. ”With the unique Fleet Check service we offer, around 100,000 tyres are inspected on-site every year. The results are carefully recorded and discussed. Peter: “If a lorry has a bald tyre, we’re already too late. Thanks to our service, we’re always there on time”.
And the fact that the service goes beyond simply visiting a customer is evident from the fleet inspections carried out by Nooteboom. “Twice a year, we visit a client on a Saturday with 300 vehicle registrations. At three different locations and on three consecutive Saturdays, we inspect the entire fleet. We start very early. Breakfast and lunch are provided, and we don’t leave until everything is done,” says Peter.
“We take a proactive approach and try to take the pressure off the client.”
