In addition, Langweerder Sloep has been using TrackJack’s boat GPS tracker for many years to keep an eye on the entire fleet.

About eight years ago, following the theft of one of his sloops, Bauke Jonkman decided it was time to fit GPS trackers to all the boats in the rental fleet. Preventing theft was, of course, a very important factor, but having constant insight into the boats’ locations also proved to be a major added value. “We can check exactly where they are, and when they’ll be back with us. This is particularly useful for short-term rentals, where the next renter is already waiting to take the sloop out onto the water.”

The rental fleet now consists of 25 sloops. Most are of the company’s own Langweerder Sloep brand, ranging from 5.50 metres to 8.50 metres in length. Or the 6- or 7-metre tender. “We’ve noticed that rentals are going much faster these days, and day rentals for the summer are already almost fully booked,” says Bauke.

In addition to rentals, TrackJack is also offered as an option when selling sloops or during maintenance. “We handle the installation and also keep an eye on the annual service package for all our customers. Genuine service, just as you’d expect from us.”

GPS boat tracker in practice

The GPS trackers in the boats allow us to keep a constant eye on things. The screen is on all day. Bauke explains: “We can intervene if sloops go too far out, or as soon as we see they won’t make it back in time. We always give them a call, and with TrackJack we can easily debunk any excuses from the renter. As rentals usually run until 17:30, it’s good to check where people are on time.”
