In 1872, the Potgieter family set up a smithy in Stadskanaal. From this initial venture, they grew alongside the rise of motoring. First as a DAF dealer, then a Volvo dealer, and for the past 15 years as an independent garage affiliated with Bosch Car Service.

Marcel Groenestein is the manager at Autobedrijf Potgieter. The company, based in Stadskanaal in Groningen, believes in quality: “Bosch is the leading supplier of parts in the automotive industry and also provides training for our mechanics.”

As a Bosch Car Centre, they naturally also use Bosch quality parts. Marcel: “I’ve always worked at dealerships. Five years ago, I made the switch. Here, we provide support for all makes and have one specialist mechanic per make or group (Volkswagen/Audi, Toyota, PSA and Volvo). We also carry out a lot of gearbox reconditioning work.”

Fleets and journey logging

In 2017, William Potgieter, the owner, launched TrackJack. “It was a very good deal price-wise. We offer it to our business customers, and have a number of regular fleets that are fully equipped with the journey logging system,” says Marcel.

“Because we sell cars and provide maintenance, we have a good, long-standing relationship with our customers. When it comes to a business car, journey tracking is always the perfect solution to mention. We then, of course, install it properly.”

As there is a 10-year warranty on a PRO Tax, the journey recording systems are often transferred to other vehicles. “If a car is replaced, we naturally take care of the transfer as well.”
