sole trader Nederland mileage logging in collaboration with TrackJack
Since 2005, sole trader Nederland has been representing the interests of self-employed professionals in the Netherlands. With over 800,000 active self-employed professionals in the Netherlands, this organisation is committed to supporting the self-employed on a daily basis in areas such as insurance, legal assistance, administration and mobility.
“Becoming a self-employed person is a conscious choice. You are a specialist in your field and want freedom,” says Leo Kits, communications expert at sole trader Nederland.
And that freedom also comes with questions. Think of administration, tax obligations, legal issues or – as is often the case – reliable mileage logging.
“People no longer subscribe just for discounts.”
Service desk, insurance and discounts
\ \A lot has changed since sole trader Nederland was launched, Leo explains. “When we started, we were the first organisation in the Netherlands to negotiate a discount with a health insurer for all sole trader Nederland subscribers. This is now a widely accepted concept. And our subscribers are still very interested in our insurance policies, as well as our helpdesk. Here, real people answer the phone, and we offer a great deal of help and support. We’re also seeing that entrepreneurs want to become subscribers to take advantage of our great discounts on products and services that self-employed people need.”

But sole trader Nederland does more than that. Through its affiliated foundation, sole trader Nederland also advocates on behalf of self-employed professionals. As an entrepreneur, you may stand alone, but as part of the foundation, connections are even established with the government and ministers.
Leo continues: “We form our opinions based on the views of sole trader Nederland’s subscribers. This became clear when the topic of compulsory disability insurance for self-employed entrepreneurs was discussed. Entrepreneurs in the construction sector were particularly in favour of this, but there were far fewer supporters in the IT and healthcare sectors. It emerged from our subscribers that almost 80 per cent were against it. We then adopted that view. We may have lost a few subscribers as a result, but at the same time it is clear what we stand for and it is clear that the opinion of our members is decisive.”
Subscriber for one purpose only
“We’re always looking for the clearest answers for our subscribers, but also the best partners to work with. That partner must solve a problem faced by many self-employed people. They must operate nationwide and deliver quality. “If they meet those conditions, and there’s a good deal in it for our subscribers, we’ll team up with them,” says Leo. Yet he observes that subscribers often only make use of one of the services or offers available. “That’s why they come to us, but we see that they don’t look further into our full package.”
For that reason, an onboarding programme is now in place. In the first two months, new subscribers are informed about the full package that sole trader Nederland has to offer. And the feedback has been positive. “Oh, do you offer that too? I never knew that,” subscribers often say.
“Do you offer that too? I never knew that.”
Keeping a record of journeys for the self-employed
The partnership between TrackJack and sole trader Nederland has been in place since 2014. They first met at a trade fair for self-employed entrepreneurs, and that’s when the spark was ignited. “Many self-employed people struggle with their mileage records. Keeping track of journeys in a notebook is time-consuming, is often forgotten and is therefore frustrating. And there are always stories circulating about fines from the tax authorities.” With that in mind, the partnership was formed. A comprehensive mileage log for the entrepreneur, and a perfect fit for both parties. To further strengthen the partnership, there is also a special offer for subscribers.
“We tell them what they need to know about comprehensive mileage tracking via our helpdesk and offer them a reliable partner in TrackJack,” concludes Leo Kits.
