You walk to where your motorhome was parked. And it’s not there. Your heart sinks. What should you do now? Every minute counts. The quicker you act, the greater the chance of your motorhome being found. Below are the steps you need to take immediately — in the correct order.

Step 1: Call the Vehicle Crime Insurance Bureau (VbV)
Call immediately: +31 (0)71 – 36 41 777. This number is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Do this before anything else — even if you are not insured against theft. The VbV can immediately take action to track down your motorhome.
Have the following to hand: registration certificate, make and model of the motorhome, and the last known location.
Step 2: Report the theft to the police
Report the theft to the police in the municipality where the theft took place. Are you abroad? Then report it to the local police first and then follow the Dutch procedures.
The police will need: the registration certificate, the make, model and colour of the motorhome, the location of the theft, your personal details and proof of identity.
Step 3: Call your insurance company
Report the theft to your insurer as soon as possible. Have your policy number to hand. Most insurers have a 24-hour number for reporting claims.
Step 4: Register with the Stolen Property Register (GOR)
Register your stolen motorhome at gestolenobjectenregister.nl. This increases the chance that a potential buyer or dealer will discover the theft and helps with the search.
Step 5: Check if there are any CCTV images
Ask nearby businesses, car parks or petrol stations if there is any CCTV footage from the time of the theft. Pass this on to the police as soon as possible.
